In November 2025, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brook Rollins claimed that about 186,000 deceased individuals and 500,000 people were double enrolled in the program. This raises claims about the integrity of the SNAP program.
There are three types of fraud: recipient fraud, retailer fraud, and electronic theft. There are various reasons why some people don’t deserve Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefitrs.
*Are you a legal citizen? If not, we will give you a couple of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a bottle of water and put you on an airplane with the destination of your choice. We don’t want to separate families, so your relatives can also go. The U.S. can’t accommodate all that want to live in our country.
*Do you realize the week has 168 hours? Most people work 40. What are you doing with the other 128 hours? How about a “side hustle” or a second job?
*Does your family have a history of “living off the dole”? This means you are unemployed and receiving goverment assistance.
*Do you think investing means going to the casino to pull slots, sports bet, or buy lottery tickets? The house always wins.
*Do you smoke, drink, or do drugs? This is wasted money.
*Do you drive up in your late model vehicle to pick up your free groceries or get that free pork loin given away at Christmas time at the State Fair grounds? I have two vehicles and I’m not bragging or complaining. My #1 “chick mobile” is a 2006 Honda Accord with 305,000 miles that has skin cancer and a “love stitch.” Vehicle #2 is a 1992 Dodge Caravan with 200,000 miles. The purpose of a vehicle is to get you from point A to point B.
*Do you have more ink on your body than a 500-page novel? God didn’t make your body to be an advertising billboard. And how about hardware hanging off your appendages. If it is gold, it is worth $4,200 per ounce; of silver, it is $58 per oz.
*Do you have too many pets? They would make a good meal. As Verle Bennett, the last WW Two prisoner from Greene County told me on his death bed, he never ate so much “dog soup” as he did when he was a captive. He could tell by the flat, small, thin half-hearted shaped rib bones. He said they sure weren’t pork chops.
*Do you try to keep up with the Joneses by buying designer clothes? Have you heard of Goodwill or thrift?
*Do you have too many toys in your house or garage? Do you spend too much on computer apps or cable TV?
*Do you spend too much on prepared food? How about cooking from scratch? Do you eat out too often?
*Do you have to buy your latte on your way to work or do you make it at home? Do you eat your lunch out of your “fridge” or go to a fast food joint at noon? Do you throw out 30-40 percent of your purchased food like the average American family does? do you buy your food from discount places like Aldi’s, Costco, or Amish and Mennonite food markets that specialize in dented, damaged, and slightly out-of-date items? Do you buy the family supper at a convenience store? How about growing a garden?
*Do you know the difference between “need” and “want”? Do you know how to live frugally, meaning living below your means? Do you have a budget?
I’m sorry to sound like Suzie Orman or Dave Ramsey, but they speak the truth.
